Survey: Cigar Cutter of Choice
SurveyRegardless of your personal preferences, I think we all agree that a crisp clean cut is an essential part of enjoying a fine cigar. After all, who wants bits and pieces of tobacco hanging from the head of the cigar?

In this survey the question is posed, what brand do you rely on to cut your cigar time after time?

There are some excellent cutters out there.

colibri Dunhill Palio Xikar
Colibri lighters offer versatility and a recognized name. The cutters are often embedded in their well known lighters.
Dunhill is a name that comes with a hefty price tag. The cutters are priced at values in excess of $500 in some cases, offering gold and silver plated varieties. A cutter of this magnitude becomes a collectors item more than a tool.
Palio cutters are marketed towards cigar connoisseurs, "to deliver only the finest cuts for your very best cigars...time and time again." The cuts are fresh and crisp, the steel crafted for these cutters is excellent!
Xikar cutters come in many different colors, and a few options to include straight cutters, punch, and multi-tool cutters. Xikar has established themselves as a company committed to customer service with an exceptional warranty program.

Survey: #1 factor in selecting a cigar
SurveyI know this is a loaded question. All of us have a combination of things we look for when selecting a cigar. But, what is the main drive in your decision. Cast your vote!

Survey: Preferred Cigar Storage
SurveyThe debate is never ending, each side with their own rationalization. But if money was no object, which would you prefer?

Are you a closet cabinet collector, but limited on funding to justify such an expense when you could better spend that money on some premium cigars? Or do you prefer the convenience and ease a coolerdor offers?

Or, do you see yourself with shelves full of desktop humidors ranging from Savoy to Dunhill, to collector series?

Place your vote

News: Famous Smoke Shop announces new Conuco cigars made by Rocky Patel
Cigar NewsSource: transWorldNews

Easton, PA 3/12/2008 12:00 PM GMT
(TransWorldNews)

Famous Smoke Shop has just announced the release of Conuco, a new exclusive boutique cigar blended and manufactured in concert with Rocky Patel, one of the leading personalities in the world of premium cigars.

The cigars are handmade under Rocky Patel's direction in Danli, Honduras. The blend comprises carefully-aged Honduran and Costa Rican Ligero, Nicaraguan Viso, and Panamanian Seco longfiller tobaccos bound in a Nicaraguan Seco leaf and wrapped in a milk chocolate-hued, Honduran Habano wrapper.

"Our goal, as always, is to bring value into an inflated boutique marketplace to let the premium cigar smoker know that taste and complexity doesn't need to cost eight bucks a cigar," said Famous Smoke Shop president, Arthur Zaretsky.

Pronounced "koh'-noo'-koh," Conuco is derived from an old Cuban word that refers to a small plot of land an estate owner would grant deserving workers to cultivate their own tobacco crops for profit.

According to Gary Korb, chief copywriter and one of Famous Smoke Shop's resident cigar authorities, "Conuco is a medium to full-bodied cigar with a sweet and complex character." He added that "the cigar offers plenty of earthy, caramelized flavors with hints of dark roasted coffee and cocoa in the aroma."

The cigars are presented in boxes of 20, ranging from $71.99 for the 5" x 44 Petite Corona, $95.99 for the 6" x 60 "Sixty". 5-packs of each size are also being offered. Those interested in more information may visit the Conuco cigars page on the Famous Smoke Shop website, or call 1-800-564-2486.

"Someone once said, 'an educated consumer is our best client,'" said Mr. Zaretsky. "Service, value, and knowledge is what we bring to our customers, and we are always grateful for that opportunity."

News: 'Little' cigars may be taxed
Cigar NewsSource: Nashuatelegraph.com

'Little' cigars may be taxed

CONCORD – Those who smoke little cigars may soon have to pay state taxes on them.

The House of Representatives voted, 187-136, to endorse legislation that alters the definition of a cigarette in state tax law to govern these so-called cigarillos.

State Rep. William Hatch, D-Gorham, said it's not fair these items are not taxed.

"This effectively closes a loophole that companies are using to sell cigarettes as cigars to avoid taxes that are on cigarettes," Hatch said.

But Rep. Steve Vaillancourt, R-Manchester, said cigars are not taxed and it's unfair to single these out.

"Calling a cigar a cigarette does not make a cigarette," Vaillancourt said. "If you really ought to be honest, you ought to tax all cigars."

Opponents also noted the federal government does not tax these items. The measure now heads to the State Senate.

News: Heineman approves statewide smoking ban (Nebraska)
Smoking Ban and Legislation NewsSource: KHAS-TV.com (2/26/2008) By David Ernst - Governor Heineman signed a state wide smoking ban into effect Tuesday. That means beginning in June of 2009 nobody will be allowed to light up in places like bars or restaurants.

The legislature approved the measure last week. Cities and counties will not be able to opt out.

The governor was not sure if he would sign the bill, but in the end decided in was in the best interest of everyone in Nebraska.

"In weighing the merits of this bill I took in the valid concerns of local control and the rights of business owners as well as the health concerns and the rights of the public to clean indoor air. The public health concern is a critical one and that is why I signed LB 395," said Heineman.

According to the American Lung Association, Nebraska is the 22nd state to pass a state–wide smoking ban.
